2012 Calender of events

Plantatgogo Heuchera catalogue
I have not been on for a while sorry! so much to do and there still is!
Only three shows left to do and a few plant fairs. Where did the summer go!
We have had a totally Golden year so far medal wise not sure how the rest of the year will go but we are very pleased with the tally so far. :DOur nursery is still stuffed with beautiful Heucheras, Heucherellas and Tiarellas they are looking fabulous and just rtight to plant and make great plants for next spring.
Nursery is open by appointment (this week 3/9/12 we are around quite a bit too! so good time to come along )Autumn is fast aproaching and the morning has a nip in the air. (We can’t believe it)
This is a great time to start making you hanging baskets and getting some good growth on them that will take you through the winter giving you loads of colour.
We have the trailing heucherellas now and just the normal heucheras if planted on their sides alittle will cascade over the basket too.
Heuchera & Heucherella baskets will be the easiest basket to make and care for you ever did,and it will last the longest, years! (as long as it watered now and again lol)

Image of one of our 1 litre pots that we ship to you, along with the free catalogue that goes with every order too. (normally costing Β£1.00)

Goodness the year is going too fast SLOW DOWN!!!
We have had a great time at Chelsea again scooping another Gold medal 4 out of 4 hope we can continue for 2013 that is the shows centenary.
We are at Gardeners world now having just finshed gardening Scotland (yawn yawn we are shattered)
We arein the middle of some serious potting now!
Its pot, pot, pot every breathing moment!
So much potting I think we went a bit potty when we ordered the plugs (these are the varieties we are not allowed to propagate ourselves due to PBR (plant Breeders Rights)
We will have all the latest varieties. I think we need to use the scaffolding pyramid from Chelsea, to stack them up on several floors.
Got to go i should be asleep we are at Gardeners World Live again tomorrow.
Picture coming very soon πŸ™‚ look at us on facebook in the mean time, ‘Plantagogo Heucheras’

We have won a fabulous Gold medal at Chelsea.
Thrilled to bits can’t believe it.
That is 4 out of 4 we never thought for a second we (just little old Richard & me!) would ever win 1 Chelsea Gold never mind 4!!!
Anyway I will have to sign off as I need to get to bed so that we can be ready for another big day tomorrow. The long 12 hour days are exhausting and I need new feet already!
Never mind the gold medal will help them lol

Heuchera Sparkling Burgundy
We are at Malvern Flower show this week.
The display has been finished and we are now waiting to see what our medal will be.
It will be this afternoon befor we find out. They are judging now as I write at 6.47am!
Richard went in early and checked it over.
We are having a busy busy time with back to back shows Chelsea looming, lots of baby plants to pot again and lots of mail order to ship.
Thats the way we like it though so keep it coming πŸ™‚
If you want to have a more frequent blog log onto our facebook page ‘plantagogo heucheras’ or follow plantagogo on twitterImage Heuchera ‘Sparkling Burgundy’ will be ready to buy soon and great for a sunny spot

QR code Plantagogo Heuchera website
Some of you will know what this is and others might be thinking ‘oh no another one of them code things’!
I didn’t know what they were at first and now they are on everything.
Well this is our new QR code that takes you to our website.
I know you don’t need because you are already here!
How it works is if you have an iphone or blackbery etc you can download an ‘app’ called a ‘QR Code scanner’. This takes a picture of the code when you hover over it. Then it takes you to whatever it is for like ours takes you to www.plantagogo.com. It then book marks the website or offer, then you can view it on your phone whenever you want to.
We may be introducing more of these over the years as it is a great marketing tool, for offers and new plants etc
Don’t worry we will still have the traditional things like catalogues fliers email the diary and of personal service.
It is just another way and alot of people are using them now.
As you know at plantagogo we do like to try the new things out as well as keeping a tradional presonal service.
If you have a new phone with the ability, go on and have a go. Its got me at it I can’t stop clicking my QRCode scanner πŸ™‚

Berry Fizz Heucherella
We got a lovely Gold medal at RHS Cardiff Flowers Show and ‘Best in Show’ we couldn’t believe it we are delighted.
We got presented with our beautiful decanter on Friday by the Mayor of Cardiff it was great.
Picture coming soon.
We are off to Harrogate tomorrow after we get back from Cardiff we have to unload, then pack up again and head off.
Before we go we will be sending some orders that are ready to go so quite a busy day tomorrow I am thinking.
We are always tired after back to back shows
The week after Harrogate we are doing lots of orders and lots of potting of lovely new plants. A lot of new varieties too.
Keep and eye on the Heuchera section as I have a few new varieties that I have saved putting on the web until nearer their availability. Am I tempting you?
Dont forget to follow us on FACEBOOK and Twitter you hear even more and see lots of lovely pictures throughout the year.Image New Heucherella ‘Berry Fizz’ PBR which are ready to ship now and looking lovely

Creme Brulee Heuchera
Happy Easter to all our customers and friends.
Hope you all had lots of chocolate eggs yesterday and had a great day – maybe in the garden, weather permitting?
We are at the RHS Halls in Westminister at the London Flower Show.
Its a bit early for us to be showing but the heucheras are showing a good contast between the winter colour and the new summer growth.
We have quite a few tiarellas and a few daffodils to give it that spring look.
We haven’t finished stting up yet. judging is tomorrow and the show opens tomorrow too.
So if you are in london pop round to Vincent Square to the RHS halls the show is in both halls the Linley and the Lawence Hall.
Its not expensive to get in and I think its free if you are a RHS member – just another way to make use of your RHS membership.
It start 10th April at 10am and ends on 11th April about 5 pm (not too sure about the opening hours but dates are correct) Check it out on the RHS website (use our link)
We have had a busy week really only a week ago it was the open day, then we had a nursery visit from Haslington Gardening club (about 30 people) and now we are in London for the show.
Its a sure sign the show season has begun.
Anyway better fly as I haven’t made our sandwiches and flask yet for today and we have to go soon.
Tell you what goes on as soon as I get a moment
Happy Gardening Everyone :)Image is Heuchera ‘Creme Brulee’ Does well in full sun

OPEN DAYS – This weekend!! 31st & 1st March saturday & Sunday 10am – 4pm
Hope you can come πŸ™‚
Busy, Busy, Busy too busy!
Thats not busy taking money:-( its busy with potting, tidying up and putting up a tunnel, moving the green house etc.
I don’t know where to start
Richard had to go to my brothers to work for 6 weeks (hence no diary as I have been holding the fort alone πŸ™
My brother Fred yates broke his elbow!! and he is a begonia speciallist all his babies would have gone over if we hadn’t helped him thousands of pounds might have had to be thrown away!
He could have got in someone else but Richard knows the job it makes it easier really and you loose no time in tarining.
However we have fallen behind as I couldn’t keep up with everything.
If you are coming to the open day goodness know how far we will have got.
I was baking cakes last night until midnight, and up early again this morning.
I have to do the garden, we are potting and richard still hasn’t finished the new tunnel but it is up now.
We have already done one plant fair at RHS Wisley and my oh my the weather was amazing!
Lots more work to do today so I will go and get a move on.
Hope you can make the open day it would be lovely to see you all.
Pictures coming soon πŸ™‚

Floyd the Plantagogo cat

Floyd the Plantagogo cat

26th February 2012Hasn’t the weather been beautiful.
There is alot of talk of drought at the moment, Heucherea, Heucherellas and Tirarellas are very drought resistant so are a great plant for times like these. They will wilt but come back again as long as you don’t leave them dry for ever.
We are very busy now getting ready for the first of the new plants coming in.
These are plugs, some varieties we cannot propagate ourselves due to plant breeders rights, so we have to buy the plugs from a source that the breeder recommends.
This means we need to get lots of space clearded for next week.
Richard has made a start on his new tunnel and moving of our little green house (pictures soon)
We are repotting and top dressing plants that remained from last year, to give them a good start.
So much to do and so little time to the first shows.
Hope you have a lovely day today, and maybe get into your gardens :)Image is Floyd our cat enjoying the garden last year. he is jumping around all over the place at the moment, with Spring being in the air πŸ™‚

We are tring to update the website too That is taking all my spare time at the moment.
The catalogue is at the printers and should be back I hope for the start of March. We are working through the Heucheras on the nursery cutting back top dressing sweeping beds etc.

Along side that Richard has got a job!!! Well not really but he is helping my brother Fred Yates, as he has fallen on the ice and broken his elbow!! Ouch!!! He is in plaster up to his neck! (picture coming soon I hope)

My brother has his own nursery in Somerford he is a Begonia Specialist and well known plant breeder.
He has so many seedlings at the moment on his nursery so we have offered to help him. (well Richard really)
His nursery is all glass and it is completely full up until July time.
So on the nursery for 5 hours a day its just me πŸ™ until Fred comes out of plaster. Hope you get better soon Fred πŸ™‚
