Plants to Fill Pots, Containers and Borders

Plants are looking great on the nursery. We’ve got some great plants to fill your pots and plant in borders to give some colour through the winter months.

It’s not too late to plant yet, especially in pots. If you are planting in the ground, make sure the ground doesn’t get water logged as they don’t like this.

Here are some ideas of combinations to plant together that look great in pots and containers.

Heuchera Cranberry, Heuchera Lime Marmalade and Heucherella Onyx.
Heuchera Lime Marmalade, Tiarella Spring Symphony, and Heucherella Solar Power.
Heuchera Lime Marmalade, Tiarella Spring Symphony and Heuchera Gojiberry.
Tiarella Spring Symphony, Heuchera Lime Marmalade and Heuchera Violet Shimmer.

Click any of the names to take you to the plants on our website if you’d like any of them.

Which Plants Will You Add to Your Garden?

With the weather getting nicer, we’re sure you’ve started taking stock on plants an colours you’d like to add to your collection, so here are a few we have available right now, ready to go to their new place in your garden!

Above is Tiarella ‘Appalachian Trail’ which is a great trailing variety, and also works a treat for ground cover as it spreads. Bright green leaves and frothy white flowers means bees love this one!

Heuchera ‘Tokyo’ has colour changing leaves, from what you see above to bright green with sprouts of red flowers.

If you’re after some bright bold colour, Heuchera ‘Zipper’ is your plant! Bright orange in the spring changing to a golden amber as the year goes on. It’s a versatile plant being able to adapt to shade, partial shade or even full sun.

Heuchera ‘Guacamole’ is a plant on a LARGE scale! It grows huge foliage with large white flowers that spring up and sway about in the summer and autumn.

Talk about some shine, Heuchera ‘Glitter’ actually seems to glitter in the sunlight with it’s silvery leaves and dark veining. It’s great at growing flowers too. Another versatile one being able to thrive in shade, partial shade or full sun.

Do any of these take your fancy? We are always adding new plants as they become ready to sell, so keep checking back!

Plants that are currently ready for their new homes

With the nature of our business, we often have plants come quickly into stock and go back out again, or we may only have a select few for sale. We try our best to let you know what is available.

At the moment, we have lots of Heuchera ‘Sweet Caroline’ with beautiful large salmon-pink flowers over lemon and lime foliage in Spring and Summer foliage changing to lime green later in summer then to lime with silver cast in Autumn and Winter.

Heuchera ‘Violet Shimmer’ TM ( Fox Series) was lunched last year at Chelsea flowers show, and we have quite a few in the nursery ready for your garden! In the Spring, it has deep violet foliage with a shimmer, which as the leaf grows becomes more silvered keeping a violet shimmer through early Summer, by mid Summer/Autumn it is very silvery foliage, dark veins, slightly ruffled, with a purple underside. We named this one after Richards Mum!

We have ONE Heuchera ‘Midnight Rose’ left, so if you’ve had your eye on this one, now is the time to grab it! It has really unusual and pretty pink polka dots cover on the shiny plum foliage in Spring with a neat habit.

If you ever see a plant that is out of stock that you are really interested in, just send us an email and we can let you know if it may be coming back soon. We can also grow to order!

The plants on the left have just been potted and will have to grow a bit before they are ready to go to their new homes. The plants on the right are growing along nicely and will be ready soon. As you can see below we’ve made a start filling in the middle row!

Sales plants almost ready to go out, and ones pictured on the right are ready and have been going out, Heuchera ‘Orange Dream’ and Tiarella ‘Emerald Ellie‘. As we’ve been potting we should be making some new additions to the website over the next couple of weeks.

A few of you have asked about availability of plants, and you can give us your email address to be notified when the specific plant you want is back in stock. On our website, just click on the plant you’d like to buy that isn’t currently in stock. Then enter your name and email address and we will add you to a list that will send you an email when we add more of that variety to our shop.
