Visiting Hidcote Manor and Gardens

We went on a little bit of an adventure last week as we travelled south for and RHS meeting. We visited Hidcote Manor, a National Trust property and one of the country’s great gardens located near Stratford-upon-Avon. There’s many gardens (some a bit secret!) dotted around the property all connected by narrow pathways. It’s like each garden is a ‘room’ so it’s fondly referred to as the garden of rooms.

The creator of the gardens, Lawrence Johnston loved plants, and made sure to source a wide variety to bring a ton of different colours and textures to the gardens. If you’d like to visit these fun maze-like gardens, more information can be found on the Hidcote website.

Can you please recommend any white-flowered varieties that will thrive in full shade?

Can you please recommend any white-flowered varieties that will thrive in full shade? (narrow side garden between two houses so it never gets any direct sun). Thank you 🙂

Hi Kelly
Great question as its an area that can be difficult.
You say you wanted white flowers.. a very pretty variety is Heuchera ‘Lime Rickey’ or you could go with Heuchera ‘Lime Marmalade’
Any variety with lime green or yellow leaves love shade, in fact have to have some shade.
Hope this helps

Is it possible to collect an order?

Hi Joan
It is possible to collect an order from the nursery or at the shows.

To collect from the nursery
You need to order online then click ‘collect from nursery’ at check out, from the drop down box.
Then email info@plantagogo.com to make a time and date which suits us both for you to collect. we are only open by appointment and open days.

To collect from a show
Order your plants online then select ‘collect from show’ from the drop down box at check out.
You will have a selection of shows to choose from.

NB
The only thing we ask is that you don’t order too far in front as this creates problems.

Happy ordering 🙂
We have loads of great plants to choose from.
More varieties are becoming available every week as we go into the spring/summer.

Gardening Talks with Plantagogo

We have given two great talks this month, The first ‘Plantagogo A Passion for Heucheras’ in Huddersfield for Bluebell Gardening Club, and the second we spoke about ‘The road to Chelsea’ in Madly Staffordshire.

While we are not in show season, we travel all over the country to give talks. We do these for any clubs, groups etc. These consist of a 45 minutes-hour long presentation with questions and answers, and of course we bring plants to purchase as well. We speak about the topics mentioned above, and more talks can be found on our website here. We still have some spaces available for March 2018 if this is something you would be interested in. For pricing and availability please contact us.

Don’t forget that we also entertain groups for private nursery visits, a minimum of 10 people and maximum 40 for a small charge fitting in around our shows. You will get a chance to look around our national collections and have some coffee or tea and some homemade cake!

We also have some special plans in the works for February and March next year, we will let you know as soon as we finalise them, so keep an eye out for those!

Getting Our Plants and Nursery Spring Ready

We are back in England after our travels to America to visit our son, and there’s no rest going on around here, we are back to full steam ahead! Sorting out our tunnels, tidying up plants and repotting, getting everything in top shape for our season ahead.

All of our plants for sale, by mail-order or at events, are planted in big 1ltr pots so that there is established root growth and they are nice and healthy. This makes them perfect to go straight into your garden or containers upon arrival to your home.
