Rare & Unusual Heucheras

(Heuchera sanguinea – ‘Corallion’)

Did you know that we have a full section on our site full of Rare & Unusual Heucheras, many that can not be found anywhere else for sale? This section is mainly for collectors, enthusiasts and anyone looking for obscure varieties, species or a variety you can no longer get anywhere else.

Some are very rare and we only have a one or two of each variety. If we didn’t have them in our National collection they probably would have dissapeared by now.

(Heuchera cylindrica ‘Hyperion’)

All the money from the sales of this section goes towards the up keep of our National Collections of Heuchera, Heucherella and private collection of Tiarella, all of which you are very welcome to visit by ringing up and arranging a time. They can also be seen on our open days, our next one is March 31st-April 2nd.

If you don’t see what your looking for, email us at info@plantagogo.com as we may be able to specially breed any you are looking for. Some may be out of stock, but check back regularly as we are always growing more. Browse our rare and unusual Heucheras here.

Welcome to the weekend

The days are getting longer, light levels are rising and I can’t wait to get into the garden , can you ?
I have planning what to do in it for months (probably won’t get much time in it but I can dream)

Heuchera Heucherella & Tiarella at RHS Tatton flower show last year showing the range of colour, shape and size.

I look at the combinations used in our displays and ache for more time in the garden
You can create similar displays in your gardens very easily using heucheras
Luckily heucheras are fairy easy to grow and grow fast too
Making more time to sit and enjoy
They mix well with other plants. They are evergreen and very hardy

Heucheras at Southport Flower Show last August showing the contrasting colours and flowers.

The colours are like they are taken from a painters pallet

There is always something for every position in the garden too.

Have a great weekend and happy gardening 🙂

Plantagogo Heucheras on ‘The Great British Garden Revival’

Just before ‘The Chelsea Flower Show’ last year (2014) we had a visit from ‘The Great British Garden Revival’ this is the second series for BBC2.

They we’re doing a program on woodland plants.

Heuchera, Heucherella & Tiarella are just that, woodland plants.

The Heucheras we grow are hybrids from North American native Heucheras in the main.

Then we went onto our nursery to take a look around and of course the camera came too!

Its not the most glamorous little green house but its like an old friend, always there for us and well loved.

Vicky and cameras in the small propagation house at Plantagogo Heucheras

This propagation house is only tiny we have a larger one, but this has all the reserves for the National Collection which Plantagogo own.

We grow all our own Heucheras and breed some varieties of our own too. Always looking for something different or improved. I think we managed it with these don’t you ?

Heuchera Coral Bouquet’ was shown on the program. This is one of the National Collection Heritage Heucheras’ that we are trying to bring back. It has green foliage but as you can see its not always about the foliage! We don’t know anyone who have this in their collections (well that haven’t had them from us anyway) This was in the Old National Collection from Mary Ramsdale (sadly no longer intact) it was down to the last one that we knew of when we first had it.
